New Hotel Coming To Chardon

Marc F. Burr announced Friday that he and a group of investors in the Chardon House, LLC project will be moving forward with the development of a 65-70 room, premium branded hotel near the Meadowlands development.

Marc, better known as “Burrly” by his friends, shared that this decision was based, in part, on a Feasibility Study that Lynda Nemeth, Executive Director of Destination Geauga (formerly Geauga County Tourism) coordinated in 2014.  Lynda states, “The accommodations we currently have in Geauga County are outstanding for a segment of the leisure market. However, there are other travelers we are unable to accommodate such as group travel and corporate or seasoned travelers seeking the familiar comfort of a branded hotel like a Hampton, Fairfield Inn or Holiday Inn Express.”

Lynda and her team conducted independent surveys of the corporate community and the findings were so compelling that she was driven to seek a more comprehensive understanding of the needs in the county.  In collaboration with Burr Funeral Home, the Chardon Chamber of Commerce, Chardon Square Association, Chardon Tomorrow, the City of Chardon, and UH Geauga Medical Center, Destination Geauga contracted with Hotel and Leisure Advisors, LLC to conduct and produce a Feasibility Study on the viability of a hotel in Geauga County. The learnings and recommendations of that comprehensive study were extremely encouraging.

Burrly explains, “After reading the study and talking with city leaders, as well as some of the people in need of hotel accommodations, I was convinced that now is the time to pursue this project. We have identified and secured the perfect location for this project.  It is a location that offers high visibility and traffic and stunning views of our beautiful city, along with economic development incentives from the city.”

Chardon House, LLC has engaged the services of a Northeast Ohio hospitality management company, Emerald Hospitality Associates, Inc., to assist in the development and operations of this project.
