
The Newbury Legion Post 663 and its Commander Ken Hunter will host Memorial Day Services Monday, May 25 at the Newbury School Auditorium. This indoor program will honor our veterans past and present. Everyone is welcome to attend this memorial service. Let’s support our current veterans and remember all those who gave their all for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Schedule of events for Newbury Services
- 8:30 a.m. – South Newbury Cemetery Services
- 9:00 a.m. – Munn Cemetery Services with VFW
- 10:30 a.m. – Indoor Memorial Day Service at Newbury School Auditorium
- 11:15-11:30 a.m. – Parade Formation
- 11:30 a.m. – Parade to Center Cemetery
- 12:00 p.m. – Center Cemetery Service
- 12:30 p.m. -Disperse and go to Legion Hall for complimentary cookout, all are invited

Our Memorial Day speaker is Geauga County Sheriff Daniel Mc Clelland. He has served Geauga County continuously for nearly 39 years as a member of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Mc Clelland has served in every rank at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department, beginning as a Deputy in April 1976 and eventually Chief Deputy in January 2001. On July 18, 2003 he was unanimously appointed by the Geauga County Board of Commissioners as the Geauga County Sheriff and successfully sought re-election to a full term in 2004. Sheriff Mc Clelland was re-elected in 2008 and 2012.
The Grand Marshal for the parade will be Mr. Dean Eppley. All groups, clubs, etc., are welcome to participate in the parade. Groups with minors must have adult supervision. This program is planned for the benefit of Newbury and surrounding communities. All veterans are welcome to participate in the program and parade with or without uniform.
