Newbury Local Schools Names New Treasurer

Newbury Local Schools has named Dan Wilson as its new treasurer. Wilson will replace Sarah Palm, who has announced that she is taking a position with Crestwood Schools. Wilson’s appointment begins July 17th and follows a Board of Education vote during a special meeting on July 13th.

Wilson has more than 40 years of experience and has worked for districts in Northeast and Central Ohio as well as for the state Department of Education. He also currently serves as treasurer for Mentor Public School, which has entered a shared-service agreement with Newbury to make Wilson’s employment possible. The decision to hire Wilson through a shared-services contract will save Newbury Local Schools $35,647 for the 2019-2020 school year.

“Dan has a wealth of knowledge and experience in school district finances, making him a great fit for Newbury,” Newbury Board of Education President Maggie Zock said. “He has a track record of excellent fiscal stewardship and transparency, and we’re excited to have him in our district.”

In addition to his experience with school districts, Wilson has served in leadership roles for several professional organizations, non-profit organizations and churches. He has also consulted various Ohio and Pennsylvania districts and provided lectures at universities throughout Ohio.

“I am honored to be joining the Newbury school district and look forward to working with the Board of Education and Superintendent,” Wilson said.
