Language Arts LIVE!
Language Arts Live! is a speaker and resource program developed by Chardon High School by Language Arts teachers which provides their students with examples of how the knowledge acquired in the classroom translates to the professional world and life beyond high school. The objective of the program is for students to better understand the various reading, writing and communication skills they are currently learning and to then be able to apply these skills meaningfully to their lives. The key to the success of this series was the parental and community involvement which reinforced our Chardon core values. Special thanks to Jeremy Guy, CJ Paternitti, John Hofstetter, Laurie Thompson, Sheri Wright, Mary Owen, Madelon Horvath, and Dr. Michael Hanlon, who participated in a panel discussion regarding the use of language and communication skills in various work settings. CHS seniors interested writing careers learned valuable tips from the panelists who are currently in the professions to which the seniors aspire. Special thanks to CHS teachers Dawn Weaver and Lynn Monaco for providing this opportunity for our students.

Ohio Learning Standards Survey
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is inviting all Ohioans to participate in a periodic update of Ohio’s Learning Standards in science, social studies and financial literacy. The ODE is asking that you share your thoughts through this survey, which is open now through midnight on Janurary 9th. The survey link can be found on the Chardon Schools homepage at ChardonSchools.org. By fine-tuning all of Ohio’s Learning Standards, we can ensure that schools are preparing students for the changing expectations of colleges and employers.
