Eighth Grade Slavery Projects
Students in Mr. Kruse’s 8th Grade U.S. History Course have been studying Slavery in the United States prior to the Civil War. Students were given a menu of choices for creating a project demonstrating their knowledge of a specific issue related to American Slavery and then presented these to the class.
Presentations included dioramas of safe houses on the Underground Railroad, the Abolitionist movement to end slavery, and a cotton plantation typical of the mid-1800s. One group also wrote and performed a skit detailing Henry “Box” Brown’s famous slave escape.
