Join us on Saturday or Sunday, November 26th or 27th, anytime between 1:00 p.m and 3:00 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center for our new Family Fun Weekend!

There is lots of exploring to be done in connection with our special Home Sweet Habitat exhibit, which focuses on forest, meadow and wetland habitats, plus numerous specialized options for each throughout the nature center and the park.

FOREST: Meet our resident box turtle and gray tree frog, then go on a short hike outside to feed birds by hand at our awesome Bird in the Hand Feeding Station!

MEADOW: Play a fun Monarch Migration game, then show your creative side by making an insect craft!

WETLAND: Try your hand at our catch-and-release fishing game, then create your very own Nature explorer puzzle!

Participants who complete enough activities with their families get a prize to take home, on top of it all. The West Woods Nature Center is fully wheelchair/stroller accessible. Activities are totally free – come one and come all! With questions, call 440-286-9516.

Avian Architecture – Learn how birds build nests

How do birds achieve such amazing levels of construction without hands?

What: Hidden Homes Nest Quest
When: Sunday, November 20th – 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: The Rookery, 10110 Cedar Road, Munson Twp.

An indoor presentation will examine a selection of bird nests for the varying styles of avian architecture in regards to materials, construction and nest placement. Then outdoor exploration will follow, taking advantage of leaf fall to locate various bird and rodent nests, as well as defunct wasp and hornet nests, as we investigate the marvels of their construction that withstand weather and provide protective nurseries for young.

Registration is not required for this program, which is partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
