Who’s craving fresh air? Bring a date or the family, a lawn chair or blanket, and spend the night outdoors enjoying movies and live music in Geauga Park District!
Nights Out in the Parks returns on special Saturdays in June, July and August – three outdoor movie nights and four scenic amphitheater shows, all completely free for all!
Observatory Park hosts all three movies, shown on a giant inflatable screen under internationally recognized dark skies. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and plot out your place on the grass. Themed activities and free popcorn and lemonade begin at 8:00 p.m., and each film starts at dark. Geauga County Public Library’s Fun Bus is also on hand; browse its stash of books and check out materials you’d like to take home right from the bus!
This season’s movies will be Ralph Breaks the Internet on Saturday, June 22nd; Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone on Saturday, July 27th; and First Man on Saturday, August 10th.
As for live music, we’ve divided this year’s performances between Big Creek Park’s Frances S. Hall Amphitheater and the great outdoor pavilion at Claridon Woodlands, all 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.:
- Jayson & the Mean Eyed Cats (high-energy rockabilly, country and blues) on June 8th at Big Creek Park;
- Foster Brown & Friends (upbeat acoustic music by an award-winning songwriter) on July 6th at Claridon Woodlands;
- Tom Todd (Jimmy Buffett tribute) on July 20th at Big Creek Park; and
- Night Dawgs (danceable classic rock) on August 24th at Big Creek Park.
Observatory Park is located at 10610 Clay Street in Montville Township; Big Creek Park is located at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township; Claridon Woodlands is located at 11383 Claridon Troy Road in Claridon Township. Easily learn more about all three parks at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org.
