Off to See the Wizard in Chardon!

Wizard of OzThe yellow brick road will lead some familiar characters to Chardon as Geauga Lyric Theater Guild presents The Wizard of Oz which opens on May 2, 2014, at the Geauga Theater.

After a tornado whisks away Dorothy Gale to the magical “Land of Oz”, she begins her quest to find the mighty Wizard of Oz who has the power to send her home. Along the way, she meets a Scarecrow, a Tin Woodsman, and a Cowardly Lion who help her on her journey.

Katy Lessick, a Chardon Middle School student, is excited to be in the Girls Choir of The Wizard of Oz.  “I have always loved the 1939 movie, and the thought of doing it in real life really encouraged me to audition for this show,” said Miss Lessick. “The hardest thing about The Wizard of Oz, for me at least, is getting all of the dancing straight! It’s really fun, though. There are going to be lots of special effects and I think that they will really “Wow” the audience!…The GLTG is a pretty special place, and The Wizard of Oz is a pretty special show. Put them together and a little magic might just happen!”

This popular musical is based on the beloved movie classic, which celebrated its 75th anniversary this year.
