The Geauga Growth Partnership announces the 2014 program of paid summer internships for Geauga County high school students. Eligibility is open to all resident seniors and juniors.
“We are delighted to offer these opportunities to Geauga County students,” said Lee Imhof, chair of the Partnership’s Internship Task Force. “These internships give our students real-world experience in the workplace and insight into employment opportunities in Geauga County. I especially want to thank the employers who have signed up to offer these positions. We continue to encourage more Geauga County employers to contact us about offering internship positions.” Imhof added. Imhof also thanked the high school guidance counselors for providing information on the internships to our juniors and seniors.
To date, there are 25 Geauga County Businesses offering 35 internships to qualified juniors and seniors. Interns are selected in a competitive process that begins with applications that are due January 31, 2014. As a part of the 2014 internship program, each student is expected to attend workshops that focus on job opportunities and requirements of different County employers and on the expectations for workplace ethics and behavior. In 2013, these workshops were held at the Geauga County Safety Center, Kinetico, and UH Geauga Medical Center.
“We are enthusiastic about the experience of Geauga County employers and students with the internships last summer,” said GGP Chairman John Epprecht (Great Lakes Cheese, Inc.). “We are delighted that so many employers have already stepped forward to sponsor opportunities for next summer. These internships will help Geauga County build the workforce it needs to keep our economy growing and our communities strong.”
