Experience what it may have been like for pioneers as they emerged from dark forests into the sunny prairies of Ohio – colorful blossoms and towering sunflowers abounding!
Naturalist Judy Bradt-Barnhart will lead anyone who would like to join her for a Prairie Flowers Picnic on Wednesday, August 16th, at Frohring Meadows, set just before the heat of the day from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Bring your own picnic lunch if you’d also like to enjoy a picnic together in the shelter after our leisurely stroll!
During the hike, Judy looks forward to sharing strategies that prairie plants have developed to survive in their hot, dry environment. Some off-trail walking will occur to reach the more uncommon species, so long pants and close-toed shoes are recommended.
