Pat Preston, owner of the Preston Superstore family of new and used car dealerships in Burton, is well-known for his philanthropy and volunteer work. Now in his 20th year of business, Preston is making donations to three charitable causes this season.
First, in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is October, Preston donated $1,200 to the local chapter of The American Cancer Society by earmarking $1 from every oil change his crew performed during October. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies, including the American Cancer Society, promoting breast cancer awareness, sharing information on the disease, and providing greater access to services.
In November and December, Preston will continue to earmark $1 from every oil change for a local charity, but this time he will donate the money to the Wounded Warrior Project, a veterans’ service organization that offers a variety of programs, services, and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of September 11, 2001. The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.
In addition, through the Chevrolet Salutes America’s Heroes program, Preston is donating $2,000 to the families of Middlefield police officers who require counseling and other services related to the sacrifices made by their family members on the force. The Chevrolet Program honors community members in uniform who have overcome obstacles, inspired others, and positively impacted their country and community.
