After intense shows such as The Crucible and I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Director Angela Miloro-Hansen decided it was time for a lighter subject in Geauga Lyric Theater’s Teen Drama Project.
Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice will be on stage from May 15 through May 17.
The goal of the Teen Drama Project is to encourage quality productions while educating the cast in theater, and immersing them in the era and social significance of the play.
This year brings newcomers as well as “veterans” such as Katie Malish, last seen on the GLTG stage as Luisa in The Fantastiks and Isabella Mastrey, who recently played Rose in Bye Bye Birdie. Both, eager to portray new characters, are also eager for the side benefits of the Project. “Pride and Prejudice has always been one of my favorite stories, and when I heard the show was coming GLTG I knew I had to audition,” says Katie Malish. “My favorite part about this production is working with such a talented cast, crew and production staff. In any show, the cast becomes close, but with the Teen Drama, taking time to learn about the significance and meaning of the show you are in, you develop an even deeper bond with the people you’re working with.”
Isabella Mastrey agrees, stating, “I would like to say how great it’s been to be involved in adult, but particularly teen, productions at GLTG. The arts are such an important part of education. Theater has helped me be more confident and taught me so much about myself, and life in general…I encourage anyone who is going through a difficult time, or just looking for a hobby, to give it a try! Theater can change your life.”

Pride and Prejudice will run for one weekend only, May 15 through 17. Enjoy a romantic comedy for only $6, and see some true emerging talent.
