REOPENING YOUR PARKS

Geauga Park District is pleased to announce the reopening of its facilities and continuation of public programming with efforts in place to continue limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Guests are again welcome to patronize The West Woods Nature Center and Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center during their normal hours of 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with the Meyer Center closed on weekends. Exhibit rooms and play areas remain closed, however, access to wildlife feeding station viewing areas, art exhibits, restrooms and information areas still make for meaningful visits to both these buildings and their parks. Please practice social distancing and respect building capacity limits as indicated by staff. The wearing of face coverings is also strongly recommended for everyone’s protection.

Campgrounds within five of Geauga Park District’s parks have reopened, too, for families and individuals to reserve online or by phone. Reservations are also being accepted for shelters and lodges, but only by phone to ensure compliance with the state’s extended gathering limit of 10 or less through July 1.

With a good number of in-person public programs resuming in June, naturalists are excited to share their enthusiasm for Nature with you again while observing a set of policies, guidelines and procedures published in full at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org/coronavirus-your-parks. These include social distancing, group sizes limited to 10, required face coverings for staff and volunteers, and recommended face coverings for participants. A number of virtual programs are also on their schedule; to view them, visit our website under Programs & Events, then filter by program type “Virtual.”

Eager to get onto the water at Headwaters Park? You’re in luck: first-come-first-served boat borrowing has resumed for the season on Fridays from 1 to 8 p.m., with the last boats going out at 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last boats going out at 4 p.m. Best of all, it’s free for Geauga County residents! Please visit our website under News & Updates for additional details about rules and coronavirus-related precautions.

FAMILY CAMP DAYS

New summer fun for Geauga residents entering grades 5-10 and their families

With this year’s Adventure Day Camps cancelled due to the pandemic, we’ve created some awesome alternative experiences to enjoy instead: Family Camp Days!

Now Geauga County residents entering grades 5-10 and their family members will still be able to join our naturalists for our most popular adventure camp activities: rocket building and launching, stream exploration, kayaking, pond dipping, fishing and insect netting in the parks.

Registration opens June 8 at 10 AM for these FREE opportunities on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30. Please note that all campers must have a registered adult in attendance, and each person attending must register in advance.

When visiting our website under Programs & Events, you can filter by program type “Summer camp” for easy access to view all the Family Camp Days we’ve planned. Check them out today!
