Rescue Village Kicks Off Pets for Patriots on Veteran’s Day

Rescue Village will be launching their Pets for Patriots partnership program on Veterans Day 2016, joining with the nationwide charity to help give shelter dogs and cats a second chance at life with veterans and military personnel.

Rescue Village hopes to have its first adoption through the program on Friday, November 11th which is Veterans Day. Anyone interested must first be certified through Pets for Patriots (Petsforpatriots.org) which typically takes 2 business days and then can adopt an animal from Rescue Village through the program. Rescue Village urges interested veterans to get certified through Pets for Patriots ASAP so that they can adopt an eligible animal on Veterans Day and help really kick off this program.

Veterans will benefit from participating in the program both through Rescue Village and through Pets for Patriots. Pets for Patriots sends a $150.00 gift card upon proof of eligible adoption to help with food and other essentials, and provides access to local veterinary partners who agree to offer ongoing discounted care for the life of the animal. Rescue Village will offer a discounted adoption fee to all veterans as well as a free bag of food.

Working with Pets for Patriots, Rescue Village gives local veterans, active duty military members and their families the gift of unconditional love while providing the most overlooked dogs and cats a second chance at life. Individuals are welcome from all United States armed forces and at any stage of their careers to participate in this program. Eligible pets must meet one of three criteria: dog or cat two years or older, has a special need, or dog over 40 pounds.

Individuals who are interested must first apply through Pets for Patriots and provide relevant eligibility documents before they adopt. Approval typically takes no more than two business days, after which they can visit Rescue Village to find their new best friend.

We currently have over 30 animals that qualify for the Pets for Patriots program and would love to find their forever homes with a veteran! Who will be the first veteran to adopt through this program?
