Rescue Village Partners with Pets for Patriots to Adopt Animals to Veterans

Rescue Village recently launched their Pets for Patriots partnership. Pets for Patriots helps animal shelters find homes for the more difficult to adopt animals by matching the homeless animals with our nation’s veterans.

On Saturday, December 3rd, Rescue Village adopted their first animal through Pets for Patriots. Cleo, a sweet 5 year old tiger cat who came to us twice, once as a stray kitten and once more years later when her former owners moved and couldn’t take her with them. Often, adult cats like Cleo sit on our adoption floor for months. Pets for Patriots helps Rescue Village find homes for the more difficult to adopt animals by pairing them with U.S. Veterans. Cleo went home this past weekend with Jon, an army vet.

Veterans who adopt through Pets for Patriots receive 25% off their adoption fee from Rescue Village, a free bag of food, discounted veterinary care at participating locations for the life of the pet, a $150 e-gift card to a major pet retailer upon pet adoption, and members only discounts.

To qualify for Pets for Patriots, an animal must be over 2 years old, have a special need or disability, or (if a dog) be over 40 lbs. Veterans must be certified by Pets for Patriots before adopting an animal from Rescue Village through the program.
