The work of Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village has recently increased as they are preparing for the admittance of a large number of cats. The cats will be kept in protective custody and be receiving any medical attention required and will not be adoptable at this time.
Extra crates and provisions are being secured and temporary holding space is being made ready. Staff and volunteers have been asked to work overtime to help care for the animals.
Support from the community is especially important at this time. Geauga Humane Society is accepting donations to Project S.A.V.E., a special fund to help animals with veterinary emergencies. Community members wishing to contribute to the fund may send donations to Rescue Village – Project SAVE, P.O. Box 116, Novelty, Ohio 44072 or visit the website.
Donations of clean blankets, clean towels, Purina cat chow, canned cat food and paper towels are also being requested.
The mission of Geauga Humane Society is to shelter and find homes for sick, injured, abused, and abandoned domestic animals that have no other alternatives; to foster compassion for all living things through education; to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs; and to prevent cruelty by enforcing animal protection laws.
If you are interested in helping by volunteering, please visit their website volunteer page and learn about the many different ways you can serve. Plan on attending 3rd annual Volunteer Fair on Wednesday, March 12th, 2014 as well.
