Rescue Village to Hold a Barn Dedication Celebration on Sunday, October 1st in Honor of Billie Howland Steffee

On Sunday, October 1st from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village will hold a barn-naming celebration. Rescue Village will announce a “dream come true” gift from the Billie Howland Steffee Family Fund of The Cleveland Foundation, inspiring the name “Billie’s Barn.” The main dedication program will take place at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Billie Howland Steffee (1939-2016) was an avid horsewoman, a philanthropist, and an animal lover who left a legacy of love and support in our community. The Rescue Village barn – a center for rescuing horses and farm animals from cruelty and neglect – will forever honor Billie Howland Steffee, a wonderful, unforgettable, and irreplaceable woman.

Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village is the only humane society in Northeast Ohio with a barn program and a physical barn on site. So far in 2017, Rescue Village was able to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home over 100 farm animals.

Billie deeply touched the people and animals of northeast Ohio and beyond. The stories of lives saved at Billie’s Barn will continue her legacy far into the future.
