Jim and Marilyn Nenendal not only won the Grand Prize in the Geauga County Fall Scavenger Hunt, they cruised to victory in style! The Nenendal’s are part of a Miata Car Club, and on September 29, the final day of the Scavenger Hunt, they took a road trip to Geauga County. “There were ten of us, five couples traveling together in their five Miatas” said Jim, of Parma. “We have done the Spring Tour before but decided to just get a smaller group together to do this one, and we did all ten stops that day.” The Nenendal’s group is actually over 140 Miata owners who love taking to the country roads on a beautiful fall day. They were thrilled to learn that they had won.
“When I called them to congratulate them, they were already planning on coming back to the county that day for a return visit to one of the stops from the tour,” said Lynda Nemeth, Geauga County Tourism Director. “This is why these tours are so popular. People find wonderful new locations that become their favorite stop when in Geauga County.”
The Scavenger Hunt ran from August 29 to September 29 with the winning entry being drawn at the Hometown Hoe-Down. The Scavenger Hunt was organized by Geauga County Tourism and featured ten questions about the county that could be answered using the Geauga County Visitor Guide and visiting each location. Participating stops were: Antiques on the Square, Auburn Pointe Greenhouse, Burton Log Cabin, Carriage Trade Boutique, Century Village, Geauga Farms Country Meats, Geauga Park District’s Observatory Park, Sages Apples, West Geauga Plaza, and Yoder’s Coleman. The Grand Prize was a Geauga County basket, valued over $275, containing gifts and gift certificates from many of the stops and an overnight package from Punderson Manor.
