Senior Days Outdoors

New programming means more senior fun in Geauga Park District

Bocce, bingo, birding, boating and biking are just a handful of the new activities planning for seniors this summer through Geauga Park District’s enhanced programming for its more mature visitors!

Introducing Senior Days: at Beartown Lakes Reservation on Wednesday, July 13; Headwaters Park on Thursday, July 21; Orchard Hills Park on Wednesday, August 17; and Frohring Meadows on Wednesday, September 14.

Starting at 10 a.m., each Senior Day will include a range of different activities to enjoy. Additionally, the EZ Go Cart will give trail tours during the July 13 event, and the Geauga County Department on Aging will coordinate picnic lunches on July 21, August 17 and September 14.

Senior Day attendance is free and no registration is required – just show up!

To learn more about each day’s schedule of events, call 440-286-9516 or visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org and choose Find a Program/Event, then choose Seniors/Grandparents in the interest search.

For seniors who love bocce, or have always been wanting to try, Sunnybrook Preserve is now hosting Pick-Up Bocce every Tuesday throughout the summer at 11:30 a.m. No registration or equipment is required; thanks to the Geauga County Department on Aging for its partnership.

And finally, as in years past, active seniors are still welcomed and encouraged to join Geauga Walkers for 1 to 1 ½ mile hike in Geauga County parks on these Tuesdays: July 12 at Sunnybrook Preserve; July 26 at Whitlam Woods; August 9 at Swine Creek Reservation; August 23 at Big Creek Park; September 6 at Chickagami Park; and September 20 at Orchard Hills Park.

Registration is not required for these hikes, which all begin at 1 p.m. Call Geauga Senior Center for the Geauga Walkers’ full, county-wide schedule at 440-279-2137.

Geauga Park District is online at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
