The Geauga Family YMCA, located at 12460 Bass Lake Drive in Chardon, has something for everyone, including employment opportunities. Housekeeping

General Description: The Housekeeper will be responsible for the timely and complete cleaning of assigned areas in the facility.

Qualifications:

  • One year of related work experience preferred.
  • Physically capable of performing the job.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience in supervision and scheduling shifts

Hours: Various day shifts Monday – Friday

Starting Wage:  $8.10 per hour

Personal Trainers

General Description: The Personal Trainer provides one-on-one instruction to an individual or group of people through a customized program tailored to their needs. The Personal Trainer develops individualized programs that ensure client safety and achievement of personal fitness goals. The Personal Trainer must be able to recruit and retain clients.

Qualifications:

  • Current national Personal Trainer certification required
  • Experience in developing personalized exercise programs for general populations and for people with specific concerns (obesity, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes etc)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in personal training instruction
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a college degree preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required
  • Experience in conducting scientifically valid fitness assessments
  • Must possess effective motivation and communication skills, interpersonal skills, and sales and marketing skills
  • Must be highly self-motivated and able to perform superior work without direct supervision
  • Must be customer service oriented and able to work effectively with a diverse group of people

Hours: Various Shifts

Starting Wage: $14 – $23 (depending on education, certification, experience)

Swim Instructor

General Description: Swim Instructors are responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants and delivering quality program instruction. Safety must be the utmost priority for all aquatic department staff. Strict adherence to the safety policies and procedures is required. Attendance at regularly scheduled in-service trainings is also required.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold current WSI and Swim Instructor certification along with current CPR PRO/First Aid (Lifeguard certification is a plus).
  • Previous experience as a Swim Instructor is required.

Hours: Various

Starting Wages: $8.50 – $9.00 per hour (Based on Experience and Availability)

Lifeguard

General Description: The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring safety of all participants during open swim and program activities.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write & understand written directions.
  • Current YMCA or Red Cross life guarding certification and CPR Pro certification.
  • Physical ability to rescue an individual from water.
  • Prior experience helpful.

Hours: Early morning and afternoon shifts

Starting Wage: $8.10 per hour
