Three BILLION pizzas are sold each year in America.
Americans eat approximately 100 acres of pizza each day or 350 slices per second!
Are you one of them?
If you love pizza, which is consistently on America’s top 10 favorite foods lists every year, you’ll be thrilled to know about Geauga County’s newest and sure to be tastiest pizza parlor around, Sirna’s Pizzeria!
Sirna’s Pizzeria is very conveniently located at 11782 East Washington St. just north of the 422/Route 44 exit. You can easily stop in on your way home from work and deliver dinner right to your table!
If you’re a regular reader to Geauga News, the name ‘Sirna’ is no stranger to you. They are a local organic family farm that supplies many of the farmers markets through the summer and have their own store just two miles south of the pizza shop. And now they are pizza shop owners, taking their organic and other locally grown food to add to their pizzas. You have not tasted ‘real’ pizza until you have bitten into a Sirna’s specialty!

“How did the pizzeria get started?” I asked Kaitlyn Sirna, co-owner. “Honestly, my mom and I wanted to order pizza one day, and we had to drive up to the local pizza place because they weren’t answering the phone. When we learned that the pizza shop was looking to get out of the location, my mom and I thought – this could be cool. So we talked it over with my dad and decided we’d make a run for it.
“We close our farm on October 31 for the season, and they were looking for new owners to occupy the building November 1. Everything, very randomly, just fell into place. The opportunity presented itself and we all just went with it. After thinking it over, we realized how unique of an opportunity this could be with us owning the farm. Even in November, and now in January, we still are pulling select items/toppings from the farm to top our pizzas. We’ve been told we’re the only pizza shop in Ohio that also owns a farm. We run under the concept of the pizza being “local-icious.” Toppings are sourced locally, including other area farms and businesses, which is why, aside from the cold, we are anxiously awaiting spring when we can pull anywhere from 70-90% of our toppings from our farm.”

Sirna’s Pizzeria is a family run business which means they spend time focusing on the details. Quality has always been high priority in their farm business, and that will continue in the pizza business as well. Not only do they use premium, local ingredients, they also cook on a stone oven. Kaitlyn says, “The stone oven does a lot of the work for us in making a great tasting pizza. Combine that with a family atmosphere and local, wholesome and homemade toppings, and you’re guaranteed to have a great experience and an even tastier pizza!”
For the Sirnas, seeing people walk in the door, eager to support another “Sirna” business, has been very encouraging. “We’re proud to have built a strong name recognition, and people are responding positively to seeing us in a different ‘uniform.’ It’s fun having families and friends we’ve made at the farmers markets around NE Ohio and our farm’s Fall Festival come visit us and support us. I think the general community support has been the most rewarding thing. People know our name and already know that we put everything we can into making a business right,” says Kaitlyn.
Feedback on Facebook has also been very positive and they have already hosted kids’ birthday parties and made several donations of pizzas to different groups such as WomenSafe.

“Our personal goal is quality and consistency. We succeed at this by incorporating only the best ingredients. This means that the pizza is not done in 5 minutes and cooked on a conveyor belt like most shops. It means we’re spending our time choosing the best ingredients, and making them too, and letting the pizza and ovens do the hard work. Our motto at the farm is “Get Fresh, Get Local, Get Flavor.” Here at the pizza shop we’ve adapted a similar mantra. LOCAL.
‘It’s LOCALicious! We are joining with Sirna’s Farm right here in Auburn Township to bring OUR farm to YOUR table.’
“It seems simple minded, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the farm, it’s that quality products can sell themselves. We’re putting out the best pizza we can and the chatter in town has been great. We’re really excited to see what other creations come out of different seasonal produce and more time in the kitchen.”

If you struggle with gluten intolerance, this will become your favorite eat-out spot! “Anyone that’s had the gluten free pizza is a regular,” says Kaitlyn. “We sampled a lot before we found one that we loved, and we’re proud of it. We get great compliments on the pizza from our gluten free customers.” Now you can make Sirna’s Pizza THE spot to get your gluten free pizza and chicken tenders, too!
Expansion plans are already in the works. Increased seating is on the way and, although they will not be a full service pizza shop, they want everyone to have the opportunity to stay a little and eat their pizza fresh from the stone oven if they so desire.

Other major plans are an expanded menu. “This is taking time as we come up with homemade recipes, perfect them, and practice for consistency,” says Kaitlyn. “We aren’t sure when this will launch, but it will include more signature pizzas, fried chicken (homemade and ma’s recipe, of course), sandwiches, soups, and a couple other dinner options. We want to bring our farm to your table, and we realize that pizza isn’t the only thing that people are seeking in a takeout menu.”
Delivery is also in the works! Stay tuned for all the expansions and details via the website and Facebook.
