Six of the Easiest Ways to Lose Weight for the New Year!

Women, she says-have specific reasons for gaining weight, with age comes a slower metabolism, they gain weight with each child and many times by 30 or 40 there are some signs of auto-immune diseases or thyroid problems in addition to the normal decrease in hormones. Unfortunately, a decrease in hormones means less energy for those extra hours to work out and take care of themselves. However, some of the newer reasons women do not lose weight are because of the new trends for shakes and smoothies. Watch the number of calories you are adding and the size of the smoothie (protein powder can be near 125 calories for just one serving ) because before long you could have a 600 calorie shake. Add lunch, and you’ve taken in a whopping 1,200 calories and it’s only lunchtime!

  1. Replace one meal with a protein smoothie that has a 3 vegetable to 2 servings of fruit ratio. Make sure it’s not supersized! It should be about 350-400 calories. This is a great healthy way to omit some of your extra calories you may be consuming. It is a great time saver too. Clients have had great luck with this and lost a minimum of two to three pounds a week.
  2. Drink More Water: This is always helps the body remain full and get rid of toxins. This helps your kidneys flush your system. Drink water to lose weight! In addition, drinking water helps your skin glow year around. This is a no-brainer for great health!
  3. Get your weights in! Building muscle hands down for the over 30 crowd is a must. More muscle equals a better metabolism.
  4. Incorporate more plants in your diet! Over 30 ages females only need .8 grams of protein and with a slower metabolism you will have the same hunger but be burning less calories. Unfair yes-but make that resolution to learn how to cook some vegan cuisine. Lower calorie dense meals are the way to go!
  5. Drink less alcohol. Alcohol has ton of empty calories, interrupts the ability for the body to metabolize fat and over 30 just doesn’t make a body function well. Time to embrace a healthier lifestyle and your bikini will thank you for it!
  6. End the day with a meal of lean protein and vegetables. Skip the starchy carb and have tea for late night snack 3-4 hours before bed-time.
  7. Losing weight and getting that body, you want is a bit trickier after 30. But not impossible. Believe in yourself and make that promise to yourself this year to practice some self-care and embrace a healthy lifestyle. There is nothing that feels better than feeling good about yourself.
