SNOWSHOE CALL LISTS – Sign up for alerts for naturalist-led Learn to Snowshoe or snowshoe outings

Want to receive a call for spontaneous naturalist-led snowshoe adventures when weather conditions are just right? Geauga Park District naturalists created TWO different snowshoe program call lists this winter, one for people looking to learn how to snowshoe, another for those who already know how – no commitment required!

Just sign up at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Programs & Events (listed right at the top), then we’ll notify you when a naturalist is leading an outing. Pop-up programs may be any time, day or evening, at any Geauga Park District park depending on snow conditions. Upon being contacted, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up, with space limited by the number of snowshoes we have available. Borrow ours or bring your own, but either way, don’t let the snow keep you indoors!
Don’t care to attend a scheduled program? No problem. Borrow our snowshoes for up to two hours at The West Woods whenever there are at least four inches of snow on the ground – and hey, the more inches, the better! Just come to the Nature Center lobby between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and they’re available first-come-first-served and free to Geauga County residents (or just $5 for out-of-county visitors, credit card only). Feel free to call 440-286-9516 to check availability, but please understand that no reservations can be taken.
Please note that borrowers must be at least 18 years old to check out a pair; anyone younger must be accompanied by an adult (and yes, we have youth sizes available). To prepare yourself for the experience, we also recommend that you visit our website under Activities, then Snowshoeing, for instructional videos, a snowshoe size chart, and our complete rules and regulations.
The West Woods Nature Center is located at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township. We look forward to seeing you on snowshoes this winter!
