The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning, execution, and growth of Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village’s fundraising and other events.
This includes: our June Gala, Woofstock, FootxFoot, and other fundraising events. She/he will be part of a dynamic team working to save animals’ lives and accomplish the humane society’s mission and vision.
-recruiting and working with volunteers
-acting as the liaison with event committees, vendors, sponsors, and guests as well as trustees and RV staff
-planning and executing fundraising events and donor recognition events
-establishing and monitors event budgets and analyzes financial outcomes
-maintaining event files and guests/attendees lists
-building relationships with vendors
-overseeing donor and participant acknowledgements, working closely with the Director of Development
-working collaboratively with shelter staff and Volunteer Coordinator on offsite animal adoption events
-working with the Marketing & PR Coordinator to publicize the events to our constituency and beyond
-seeking to develop new projects and event fundraising concepts to ensure the long-term growth and philanthropic success of Rescue Village.
The requirements for the Special Events Coordinator position include:
-at least three years of hands-on event planning and management experience
-exceptional written and verbal communications skills
-ability to be strategic and involved in hands on event coordination
-strong time management skills and highly organized with an ability to generate an annual events plan and timeline
-direct experience working with volunteers
-a love for building relationships with the public
-ready for a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
-ability to take initiative and work with a team
-creativity and passion for the agency’s mission
-a good sense of humor
