Stop Chewing on Dirty Old Nasty Gum

Right now I can taste the nasty old aftertaste of this Orbit Sweet Mint gum that I put in my mouth just about 20 minutes ago. I thought Orbit was supposed to last a long time, but you know, when you chew on something as ferociously as I do, I guess it might not last as long as it’s supposed to, right?

When I think of a new idea, I like to chew it over in my mind hundreds and thousands of times. I want to be sure, that I am sure, that I am sure, it’s a good idea. I want to be absolutely certain. I think success comes when we carefully plan and carefully execute our idea. In the book Good to Great by Jim Collins, that I am reading right now, this theme continues to recur:

Disciplined thought, combined with disciplined action, will always equal success

So what makes an idea succeed? What makes it worth pursuing? Rather than chew it over and over until it tastes bad in your own mouth, I want to encourage you to get out and discuss it with other entrepreneurs. I’ve found over the years that one of the very first steps of a successful startup is finding and building a strong group of advisors and team members around yourself.

Please join me and fellow entrepreneurs like yourself Wednesday night, October 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Chardon library and let’s discuss your idea. You don’t have to chew on it by yourself any longer; together we can explore your idea and see if it’s worth pursuing or not.

I’ve been involved in over 35 startups in the past 15 years and it’s something I’m passionate about. I’ll do everything I can to help you get started off on the right track. Whether it’s a small home business, a large enterprise, or a non profit idea, I’d love to learn more about what you have in mind. I hope to see you there!
