Geauga County Job and Family Services is pleased to announce that a Summer Youth Employment Program will be offered to eligible youth in Geauga County.
The Summer Youth Employment Program enables low income, TANF eligible Geauga County youth to gain valuable work experience while earning a paycheck. Youth may work part time or up to 40 hours per week through the program. The Summer Youth Employment Program offers the opportunity for youth to develop a work history and have a current reference from an employer.
Youth participants will earn $9.00 per hour. Various employment positions throughout the county are available.
The Summer Youth Employment Program will operate in Geauga County from June 2, 2014 – August 29, 2014.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Resident of Geauga County
- Income eligible: within 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Age 16-24 years of age; 18-24 year olds must either reside in a home with a minor child or be a non-custodial parent (not residing with his/her minor child) and have earned a high school diploma or GED
- Youth in Foster Care may participate in the program
Youth interested in participating in the Summer Youth Employment Program may apply at Geauga County Job and Family Services, 12480 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon:
- May 7, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- May 14, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Youth under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the meeting. Parents/guardians must bring the following for their child: birth certificate, social security card, Photo ID, most recent report card; and if youth would like to have their pay direct deposited, a copy of a voided check or savings account statement is needed.
