#TailsOfGivingTuesday’s 3rd Tail: A Three Legged Bunny Named Boo Boo

Rescue Village has officially kicked off their #GivingTuesday campaign by sharing “#TailsOfGivingTuesday” – stories told every Tuesday from now until #GivingTuesday (November 29th) of animals who have passed through our doors and left pawprints on our hearts.

This week, was the story of Boo Boo, a bunny who needed extreme medical care. Boo Boo came to Rescue Village in January of 2016 when his owners were moving and couldn’t take him with them. When he first arrived, he had an abscess on his right front paw. After this abscess was treated and had healed, he was put up for adoption. Not long after this, however, we found another abscess, this time on his right rear leg. This abscess proved to be much more stubborn than the first. For months, Boo Boo needed medical treatment for this abscess which kept healing and then reappearing.

At this point, it was almost April, nearly four months after his intake and Boo Boo’s abscess on his rear leg just wouldn’t go away. The medical team at Rescue Village made the decision to amputate this leg in April 2016 in order to prevent another abscess from forming in the future. After another month of healing and medical care, with no more abscesses appearing, Boo Boo was placed up for adoption for a third time in the beginning of May. He found his forever home on June 26th, after being at Rescue Village for over 6 months and being put up for adoption three separate times! The third time really was the charm for this three-legged bunny.
