The Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) is pleased to welcome Monique LaFortune to its August meeting. She will be presenting examples of her unusual pieces, and giving participants an opportunity to create their own artworks.
This program, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Heinen’s Café, 402 Center Street in Chardon, on Tuesday August 20th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Coming from a highly creative family background, Monique became fascinated at an early age with being able to create beautiful artworks from a wide variety of re-purposed and found objects and materials. Inspired by whatever she finds, she has created paintings, constructions, jewelry, and other artistic pieces.
For a time Monique became engaged in creating high quality doll houses and doll accessories, such as towels, drapery, and rugs, and has been highlighted in several dollhouse related magazines. These days mixed media has become her preferred venue, which she creates at her home studios in Euclid. She also holds classes in painting and crafting for numerous groups. She has presented at numerous shows in Lake and Geauga counties. LaFortune notes that she has drawn a great amount of artistic inspiration from the colors and pastoral beauty of the Geauga region.
The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across all artistic disciplines, for artists living and/or working in Geauga County and surrounding communities.
