The Lake Effect Concert Band Performs Free Concert at Sisters of Notre Dame Educational Center on Sunday, October 15th

The Lake Effect Concert Band will be performing a free concert on Sunday, October 15th from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon Ohio. One of two ensembles performing under the auspices of the Snowbelt Musical Arts Association (SMAA), the Lake Effect Concert Band will be presenting an eclectic mixture of band classics and popular tunes.

J.c. Sherman will be performing a tuba solo in the Lake Effect Concert Band’s October 15th program at the Sisters of Notre Dame Education Center in Chardon, Ohio.

According to SMAA founder and executive director, Greg Hillis, the afternoon’s repertoire will include Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F, as well as compositions by Edvard Grieg, Dizzy Gillespie and John Williams. A special highlight of the performance will be J.c. Sherman’s tuba solo in Henry Mancini’s “Pie in the Face Polka,” from the 1965 film The Great Race.

The concert will take place in a handicap-accessible auditorium, and there is ample free parking. This family-friendly event is free and open to all. Donations will be appreciated.

The SMAA was formed by Greg Hillis as a non-profit organization in January of 2017. It is dedicated to providing musical arts programming in the Snowbelt region of Northeast Ohio. SMAA’s mission is to enrich, educate and entertain the community by providing local, affordable opportunities for audiences to hear a variety of high-quality musical performances. Hillis is a musician, teacher, composer and hornist who has appeared as a soloist. or guest conductor with many of Northeastern Ohio’s most distinguished symphonic and chamber orchestras.
