Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is playing at the Chagrin Falls Intermediate School on Friday, November 12, at 7 pm, Saturday, November 13 at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm and Sunday, November 14 at 2 pm! This 70 minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. Sponsored by Chagrin Falls Community Education, the Chagrin Falls Middle School/Intermediate School Drama Club cast and crew features over 60 students led by Patricia Haynish, Director, and Craig McGaughey, Assistant Director. The choreographer is Gail Friedberg of En Pointe Danse.
The lead role of Ariel is double cast featuring Brigitte Edwards (Chagrin Falls seventh grader) and Marin Carlson (Kenston eighth grader) with Frankie Nocente (Chagrin Falls seventh grader) playing the role of Prince Eric. Other leads include: Caleb Zelch (Chagrin Falls eighth grader) as King Triton, Tess Snyder (Chagrin Falls eighth grader) as Ursula, Durham Freese (Chagrin Falls seventh grader) as Grimsby, Brooke Carlson (Kenston sixth grader) as Sebastian, Kylie Lavalley (All Saints of St. John Vianney eighth grader) as Scuttle, and Claire Hoelzel (Chagrin Falls eighth grader) as Flounder.
This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch, and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice.
