Ms. Alison L. White, Director of the Ohio STEM Learning Network’s Akron Hub, and Mr. Kerry Christopher, Director, Global Internal and Organizational Communications for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, will present a compelling program on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) at the Geauga Growth Partnership’s (GGP) 2014 Annual Meeting. Their presentation will highlight the relationship between Goodyear and the Ohio STEM Learning Network – Akron Hub.
The Annual Meeting will be held June 17 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Club in Munson Twp with registration and breakfast beginning at 7:30 am. The program will begin after a short member meeting and election of directors.
Ms. White will present a broad picture of STEM education and its value across industries. She will also discuss the need for collaboration between higher education and business to help build a workforce armed with the critical skills needed to succeed in tomorrow’s workplace.
The presentation by Mr. Christopher will focus on the close relationship between Goodyear Tire and Rubber and the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN). He will discuss its importance to his company, the STEM program, and the community.
Ms. White serves as a regional STEM facilitator and leads the OSLN – Akron Hub strategy development. She holds a B.S. degree in Public Relations with a minor in Political Science from Kent State University and a M.S. degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Akron.
Prior to joining Goodyear in 2011, Mr. Christopher was product communications manager for Volkswagen in Herndon, Virginia, and has also worked for General Motors as communications manager during the company’s bankruptcy crisis. Kerry is a 1993 graduate of the University of Akron and spent four years as a DJ and music director at WZIP radio. He was also a weekly contributor to the Buchtellite and wrote a music column for Scene magazine in Cleveland.
This program will give GGP Members and other Geauga County business owners and guests an opportunity to hear why STEM learning is an economic imperative. Ms. White and Mr. Christopher join Senior Economist Milton Ezrati of Lord Abbett & Co., who will present commentary on the U.S. recovery and economic trends.
