There’s Still Time to Bid on Geauga SWCD’s Painted Rain Barrels!

Recycling plastic has never looked so good!  Once a year the Geauga Soil Conservation District (SWCD) combines water conservation and art appreciation through their Rain Barrel Yard Art Campaign.  Through this creative community initiative, local artists transform 55-gallon recycled plastic barrels into beautiful, re-purposed rain barrels!  By collecting rooftop runoff for watering landscapes, lawns, and flower gardens, these decorated barrels help save water, alleviate flooding, and reduce storm water pollution.

Four talented artists have each painted a barrel that uniquely reflects Geauga County’s natural, cultural, agricultural, or historical resources.  This year’s artists and their masterpieces include: 2K19 Fest by Byron Leffler, Summer Blossoms by Yvonne Delgado Thomas, Wondrous Waters by Bob Kolcumand Nature’s Kidneys by Nimue Shive.  These decorated rain barrels are available for bidding at the Geauga SWCD office or on our website until 3:30 pm Friday, October 18th.

Be sure to check the current bid amount of each barrel prior to submitting a bid.  View the barrels or bid online by visiting geaugaswcd.com, or contact the office at 440-834-1122.  A special thanks to the artists for their generosity and to Ken’s Auto Body, Inc. in Troy Township for applying protective clear sealant to the barrels.  Don’t delay, bid on a barrel today!
