This is precisely the time when artists go to work

As we wrote last week, we believe literature has the power to expose injustice, give voice to the voiceless, and drive real change in individuals and in society. In other words, this is precisely the time when artists go to work. More on our own plans to make change soon.

Free City-Wide Writing Program Starts Next Week!

Neighborhood Voices is a new city-wide writing project inviting Clevelanders from every corner of The Land to pen stories, essays, and poems about their neighborhood for inclusion in an anthology that will become part of the Cleveland Public Library’s permanent collection.

As part of this program, Literary Cleveland and the Cleveland Public Library will host free virtual writing workshops throughout the city in June and July, allowing residents to connect with neighbors, share stories of their community, and draft new writing about what makes their neighborhood unique.

At the end of the summer, residents’ writing will be collected into an anthology, and all participants will be recognized in a launch party showcasing the vibrant lives and voices in Cleveland neighborhoods.

To join the Neighborhood Voices program, head to our website and register for the free online writing class in your neighborhood here.
