Funds raised will benefit GGP’s educational programs developed toward the mission to “Prepare Tomorrow’s Workforce Today” through youth workforce training during Career Readiness and Career Awareness events, and the High School Internship program. The multi-faceted workforce training program was launched in 2012 by GGP founding director Frank Samuel, who was passionate about preparing young people for successful careers. Since the program’s inception, when nine (9) high school students were matched with sponsoring employers for summer internships, the programs have served more than 1,800 students (nearly 1,000 in 2016 alone).
HomeGrown Geauga is the signature event for Geauga Growth Partnership and is organized to feature all things Geauga County, from the farm to table menu to a fresh farmers market to local guest entertainment.
The featured chef is Kimberly McCune Gibson of Hungry Bee Catering, who is currently one of a select few chefs chosen to service the Republican National Convention. Home-grown Bill Ward of Bill Ward Productions and Kristi Capel, Fox 8 News, will tag-team as guest emcees this year. Back by popular demand, home-grown performance artist Jill Bumby of The Bumbys (http://www.thebumbys.com) will treat guests to a “fair and honest appraisal of your appearance.” Be on the lookout for more information on other home-grown musicians and other local talent who will perform at the event.
