Toastmasters Winners On The Move!

More than forty people attended the Toastmasters Area 20 International Speech and Evaluation Contests on the Chardon Square March 15th. With contestants from four of the Area 20 clubs in each contest, it was an interesting event! Contestants in the International Speech Contest gave 5-7 minute original speeches. Contestants in the Evaluation Contest evaluated Lenard Taylor’s speech describing the traits of effective leaders. Jim Murphy of the Chardon Toastmasters placed first in the International Speech Contest while Debra Richardson of Western Reserve Toastmasters took first place in the Evaluation Contest.

Jim and Debra will compete at the Eastern Division Contest Wednesday, April 4th being held at Progressive Studio 96, 6671 Beta Drive in Mayfield Heights. The winners of the Eastern Division Contests will advance to the District Contest, with the ultimate winner of the International Speech contest competing at the International Convention in Chicago Illinois this August. Toastmasters contests and meetings are open to the public at no charge.
