United Way Services of Geauga County is joining the #GivingTuesday movement this year. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
#GivingTuesday encourages charitable giving throughout the holiday season and will launch on Dec. 1 as a month-long campaign ending on Dec. 31. The funds from the #LiveUnitedGeauga campaign will be allocated to help some of our community’s most at-risk community members, individuals who are under the age of 60 but, due to a disability, are homebound.
These individuals are both isolated and in need of nutritious meals, which they either can’t afford, can’t make for themselves, or in most situations, both. United Way is looking to raise $10,000 to provide nutritious meals to these individuals.
“It’s the season for caring and Geauga County residents have proven time and again that they take care of each other. Join us and see what makes Geauga great,” says Claudia Toth, UWSGC Board Member and participant in the campaign.
