Work on LAKETRAN ZERO EMMISSION BUS CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT to be Honored During NECA 2022 Austin Convention
V.L. Chapman Electric, an electrical contractor based in Grand River, OH, was recently recognized by the National Electrical Contractors Association with a NECA Project Excellence Award for their work on the Laketran Zero Emission Bus Charging Infrastructure Project. This project was chosen as the winning project from all submissions nationwide in the Electric Vehicle category.
NECA established the Project Excellence Award to showcase the exceptional work that its members perform throughout the entire country. V.L Chapman Electric will be recognized along with other award winners during NECA 2022 in Austin.
“It has been our privilege as a company to serve Laketran since 1974, when my father and uncle ran our company. We can’t thank the Laketran leadership enough,” says Lad Chapman, President of V. L. Chapman, “Because of their leadership and innovation in pioneering this new electric-fueled transit system, we were able to bid the project and get involved. Laketran is now operating the lowest polluting and most efficient transit vehicles in Ohio.”
This Award is significant not just for Lake County, but it is a first in Northeast Ohio, as well. “V.L. Chapman Electric is the first ever Greater Cleveland Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association member firm to win NECA’s Project Excellence Award,” says Thomas Shreeves, Executive Director of Greater Cleveland NECA. “In doing so, they have shown they are capable of meeting today’s as well as future challenges in the electrical construction market. We are very proud of Lad and all the professionals he has assembled.”
You can visit the Laketran project sites and take a ride for yourself on one of their new battery-operated electric buses. The buses operate the agency’s Local Routes and re-charge at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, at the Wickliffe Park-n-Ride at Lloyd Rd. and Lakeland Blvd., and Laketran’s Painesville Transfer Center located on St. Clair St. across from the Lake County Administration building.
