Learn how Geauga Park District creates vernal pools, and who considers them critical
What makes a vernal pool a “true” vernal pool?
See for yourself during this indoor/outdoor program focusing on the pools created at The West Woods.
Vernal Poolooza will take place on Sunday, March 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87), in Russell Township.
Vernal pools are critical habitats for a number of creatures, and here’s an opportunity to meet some of them. Learn indoors how the pools are managed by Geauga Park District naturalists in order to provide for their inhabitants’ needs, then head outside to look for evidence of amphibian and aquatic invertebrate activity in the pools along the Discovery Trail.
Registration is not required for this program, suitable for anyone school age or older. Activities will be fully wheelchair/stroller accessible indoors but only partially accessible on the trail. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
