WHAT A COMEBACK – Celebrate the River Otter’s amazing comeback in Ohio with Otter Man himself

An educational, inspirational and truly original hands-on program for the whole family awaits in Otter Man Returns on Saturday, January 25, at The West Woods Nature Center.

From 2 to 3:30 p.m., Chief Naturalist John Kolar and Naturalist Dottie Drockton will focus the afternoon on River Otters and their amazing comeback story in Ohio, also touching on other members of the weasel family that live here, such as short-tailed weasels, minks and other fishers. Expect to handle pelts, skulls and other weasel artifacts; view animal mounts and an Ohio Weasel slideshow, as well as real trailcam footage captured in your parks; and play an otter game or two, as naturalists vividly tell the tale.

Most of the time we’ll be indoors. But just wait, because a special guest will soon show up – and when the infamous Otter Man appears toward the end of the indoor portion, we will follow him outside and observe him as he returns to the wild!

“Otter Man first appeared at a weasel program over 20 years ago and has only appeared a couple times since then,” Kolar said, “so it’s a real treat to see this half-man-half-otter up close and in person!”

No registration is required to enjoy Otter Man Returns. The West Woods Nature Center is located at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township.
