Fishing, hunting events sponsored by Judge Grendell
Popular youth fishing and hunting experiences return to Geauga Park District this summer and fall thanks to the sponsorship of Geauga County Probate & Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Grendell. Check out this article from last year’s event.
Two Family Fishing Expo events are scheduled for families with kids ages 8-14:
- Saturday, September 13, at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield Township and
- Sunday, September 14, at Big Creek Park in Chardon Township
Both are from 9 a.m. to noon, and registration is required at the website or 440-286-9516.
Fishing expo families will enjoy instruction in the basics of fishing equipment, knot tying and fish identification, followed by a morning of fishing with the help of experienced anglers. Equipment will be provided or bring your own.
Additionally, young people selected during a recent lottery will also take part in Youth Hunting on Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Rookery.
Applicants had to possess a valid youth hunting license and youth deer permit, have completed the ODNR Division of Wildlife’s Hunter Safety course, and be accompanied by a non-hunting adult. All ODNR rules and regulations apply.
“Geauga County has a rich tradition of fishing and hunting,” said the judge. “It is important that we pass this legacy on to the future generations. I appreciate Geauga Park District’s natural resources and want future generations to enjoy these great resources.”
Prizes will be offered by Judge Grendell and other event sponsors.
