Tag Time!

Although 2012 just started, February 1st is right around the corner. If you have a furry, four-legged friend at home that barks, then you need to know that date! That’s the deadline in Geauga County to get your dog licensed. The state of Ohio requires that all dogs three months or older be registered and wear a dog tag. Licenses purchased on or before February 1st are $10.00 per dog. A $10.00 penalty is added to all licenses purchased after the deadline. Residents can purchase their dog licenses on the Auditor’s secure website (http://www.auditor.co.geauga.oh.us). A fee of $1.00 per transaction will be assessed. They can also be purchased at various locations throughout the county. There is a $0.75 fee when purchased in person at all locations excluding the Geauga County Auditor and Dog Warden Offices. Keep in mind that owners of new dogs can purchase their tags any time during the year at the Auditor’s office, online, at any of the listed locations, or by mail.
