The 3nd Annual Geauga and Lake County Transition Fair is scheduled for April 27, 2013, at Quail Hollow Resort & Conference Center. The transition fair will provide valuable information on a wide range of topics through break-out sessions including: Mental Health Services, Communication in the workplace, Caring for the Caregiver, Independent Living, College Services, and Accessibility, Sexuality, Financial Planning, and Transition Services for all students with disabilities, and more. In addition to the break-out sessions there will be two Keynote Speakers from Kent State and Akron University speaking on Transition Planning for “High School Students with Disabilities”.
A minimum of 50 providers with display tables will be available to talk with parents and provide information regarding their services.
A minimum of 50 providers with display tables will be available to talk with parents and provide information regarding their services. New this year, we will be hosting a career fair for all students with disabilities to be able to participate in. They will be able to talk with employers, submit resumes, and interview.
The fair last year was extremely successful and well-attended by approximately 65 families. We were able to offer the fair to families free of charge, which we believe helped with the attendance and success. It is our goal to continue to provide a high quality transition fair to parents at no cost to ensure their child transitions from high school to adulthood successfully.
Program is being offered in conjunction with the Geauga County Educational Service Centers Parent Mentor, Vocational, and Transitional Services, Geauga County Developmental Disabilities and the Lake and Geauga Family Collaborative.
