When it comes to housework, it can seem like there are no shortcuts. Today, we will be sharing with you 5 household tricks that every woman should know. These tips will help you clean, find and organize things faster. These are just a few of the countless life hacks that can help you be more productive!
1. Tidying Toys
If your child’s toys are due for a good cleaning (whose aren’t?), here are a few tips. First, small plastic toys like Legos are difficult to wash one by one, and sometimes they need more than just a good rinse. If you are looking to give your child’s Legos a good wash, use a mesh laundry bag, fill it with Legos, close it tightly and throw it in the washing machine. If your child has bigger toys, toys that fit comfortably on the racks of your dishwasher (they do not fall through) this is a great alternative to using the washing machine!
2. Dusting Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine
There are dozens of places in your home that are just plain difficult to reach and difficult to clean. Though we cannot touch base on all of them, we would like to address two of them.
First, fan blades are not only difficult to reach but dusting them often means pushing the dust from them onto the floor. Here’s a tip: Try to clean your fan blades with an old pillowcase. Carefully put the pillowcase over the blade and wipe the blade off into the pillowcase for a quick cleanup.
Another challenging task is dusting your air vents. A great idea is to take a vacuum to them before you try to clean them, just to knock off the loose dust. Then, take a rag and drape it over a butter knife. This will allow you to clean each section of the vent individually with your new dusting tool!
3. The Lost and Found
If you have lost something small in the carpeted abyss, take the hose of your vacuum and cover it with a stocking. Take a rubber band to secure the stocking to the vacuum, turn it on, and begin your search! The stocking will act as a filter so your lost item will not get sucked up, but found!
4. Organize. Organize. Organize.
If you aren’t already doing this in one room or closet of your house, you are missing out! Take your cleaning supplies, hair products, whatever you have an abundance of and no space for and organize it inside of a hanging, back-of-the-door shoe rack!
5. Becoming a Stain Master
Things get spilled, written on, etc. It is a fact of life. But, did you know there are some simple tricks for removing some of these stains? Toothpaste can help you remove permanent marker from your hardwood floors! Rubbing alcohol and a little Wollite pet + oxygen may be able to take nail polish stains out of your carpet. And, a mixture of vinegar and Dawn dish soap can create a bathtub cleaner that requires little to no scrubbing!
