St. Mary School Science Olympiad team was not intimidated when matched with teams of larger number and schools nearly double their size. Together they marched to a 3rd place overall finish in the varsity division at St. Ignatius Invitational held this weekend.

Parent, Kelly Morano said, “Our school, while small in size, finished very big! We are proud of them all!”
The St. Mary team was made up of 13 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students each who dedicated time before school, after school and during their X period to prepare for the competition. The students competed in all of the events including bridge building, air trajectory, anatomy, bio-process lab, meteorology, solar systems, simple machines, write it do it, picture this, fossils, can’t judge a powder and wheeled vehicle.
Principal, Mary Petelin said, “I’m very proud of the efforts of our students, volunteers and teachers. It’s a tremendous commitment of time and energy to become proficient in each category and to obtain such a high placing finish”.
