GLTG Bye Bye Birdie
The girls scream for Conrad Birdie! (L to R Kaia Bulkowski, Brian Ferris, Morgan Spehar and Megan Woolf in Bye Bye Birdie at Geauga Lyric Theater.

Come out to Geauga Lyric Theater Guild and see Conrad Birdie on his farewell musical tour. Inspired by Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the army, this satire on American society is set in 1958, crafted with the fondest affection and telling the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be drafted.

“Conrad Birdie” is a word play on Conway Twitty, best known as country music star and Elvis’ rock n roll rival in the late 50’s. Bye Bye Birdie is a funny, heart-warming musical comedy for the entire family.

Call to reserve tickets for the final weekends of Bye Bye Birdie. Say “Conrad Birdie” to receive two dollars of the regular ticket price. Bye Bye Birdie runs through February 8th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2 pm at the historic Geauga Theater, which is located on beautiful Chardon Square at 101 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio. Tickets are $14, and $10 for those 12 and under. Special thanks to our marquee sponsor Lake Health!

While Birdie is part of Geauga Lyric Theater’s main season, it is part of The Skip Kelley Youth Production Series, and is acted entirely by teens and young adults 21 years and younger.

Skip was a much loved tech director at GLTG, who believed that our youth could be as talented as adults in every aspect of theater, and encouraged them with affection, patience and not a little discipline. Since his death in 2005, his name is still invoked by the now young adults and people who knew him as a measure of quality in workmanship.
