Bees and butterflies are a critical part of our ecosystem and their populations have been declining.
Lowe’s Greenhouse is working to help increase their numbers, and you can help. Natural butterfly and bee populations have been negatively affected by destruction of meadows and grasslands, their natural habitats. You can provide a suitable bee/butterfly habitat that will help fortify their populations and, as an added bonus, the habitat will bring you enjoyment in watching beautiful butterflies in your yard.
Two local corporations have already joined in the effort, installing butterfly gardens at their locations: Naturepedic and Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve. There are also many local schools with butterfly gardens.
The Friends of Bees and Butterflies (FOBB) initiative is easy to join. Simply certify your yard as a FOBB habitat – there’s an easy form on the Lowe’s Greenhouse website. Then, with 6 purchases of flowering plants for your garden, you’ll get a free car magnet. After you make 18 purchases of flowers, you’ll get a free t-shirt!
