Help Me Learn Day

Anyone who has children knows how expensive it is to get them ready to begin the school year. With school budgets tightening, the list of school supplies students are required to provide continues to grow.

Celebrating our tenth year, Geauga County Job and Family Services is pleased to sponsor, Help Me Learn Day, a fun and worthwhile school supply distribution program that assists low income children in Geauga County.

Last year, Help Me Learn Day served 526 kids throughout Geauga County. We anticipate the need to be just as great, or greater, this year. Since all of the school supplies collected for this program come from community donations, your support is vital.

Two separate Help Me Learn Days are planned. The first will take place at Geauga Co. JFS on August 9, 2016 and the second at Chagrin Falls Park Community Center on August 11, 2016. Families must pre-register and demonstrate a financial need to qualify. Children and their parents are invited to Geauga JFS or Chagrin Falls Park where volunteers will help the children “shop” for their school supplies. Please contact Sara Shininger, Geauga Co. Job and Family Services, at 440-285- 9141 to register.

New this year: Geauga Co. JFS is partnering with Morning Star Friends Church and United Way Services of Geauga Co. to provide school clothing for children and community resources for the entire family. The Back to School Clothes Closet, sponsored by Morning Star Friends Church will provide eligible families with an opportunity to “shop” for new and gently used clothes for the upcoming school year. The Family Resource Fair, sponsored by Geauga United Way, will offer information on resources, programming, and other services available to families. There will also be activities for kids. Both the Back to School Clothes Closet and the Family Resource Fair will be held on August 9 th (Help Me Learn Day) at Morning Star Friends Church, 12550 Ravenna Rd., Chardon about 1 mile from Geauga JFS.
