Pictured In Left Photo: Students in Cindy Newman’s AP Language and Composition class at Chardon High School closed out their Canterbury Tales unit by hosting a banquet complete with costumes and props. The Canterbury Tales is the most famous and critically acclaimed work of Geoffrey Chaucer, a late-fourteenth-century English poet. Little is known about Chaucer’s personal life, and even less about his education, but a number of existing records document his professional life.

Pictured In Top Right Photo: Students in Mrs. Jeanne Clark’s General Chemistry class at Chardon High School are digging deep into chemistry while working on their findings in a empirical formula lab. To find the empirical formula of a compound, students analyze samples of an unknown compound to identify the percent composition. From there, they calculate the ratios of different types of atoms in the compound, and express these ratios as the empirical formula. An empirical formula represents the lowest whole-number ratio of elements in a compound.

Pictured In Bottom Photo: Karen Sage, from Sages Apples & Fruit Farm, was at Park School, talking to kindergarten students about apples. The students learned that apples are one of the most popular foods in the world. The reason apples are so popular are apples are good for you, they taste great, and can be grown all over the world.
