The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) celebrated its 76th year in a new way… with an outdoor Open House and Annual Election! Held on a chilly, yet sunny, autumn morning at the Natural Resources Area on the Geauga County Fairgrounds, attendees supported our county’s commitment to conservation. Participants voted in the election of one member to the Geauga SWCD five-member Board of Supervisors. Robert Lausin of Thompson and Beth McCaffrey of Montville Township were this year’s candidates. Beth McCaffrey was re-elected to serve a 3-year term as Board Supervisor and will continue charting the course for natural resources management in Geauga County.
Throughout the morning, District board and staff showcased this year’s conservation award winners, painted rain barrels, along with a scavenger hunt and sampling of services provided. As a token of appreciation and stewardship, seventy Eastern Red Bud and Bald Cypress tree seedlings were distributed. Thanks to all who supported and attended this special celebration!
