WILD ABOUT WINTER NIGHTS! – Spark an appreciation for the season at this new all-outdoors winter event

Spark an appreciation for the season at this new all-outdoors winter event

Meet up in the park for Wild About Winter Nights – a new all-ages community event showcasing all the fun a winter night can provide!

The date to mark on your calendar is Saturday, February 1, at Big Creek Park. Guests will want to bundle up for the weather with appropriate footwear and arrive at 6 p.m. to enjoy everything offered before 9 p.m.: an EPIC bonfire in the field near Maple Grove Shelter, an owl hike led by Chief Naturalist John Kolar, a luminary-lit trail for self-guided hiking, various outdoor snow games, naturalist-guided astronomy with a park telescope (if skies are clear), and snowshoeing (first-come-first-served and weather dependent). Hit the shelter area, too, for hot cocoa, s’mores (made at a smaller fire nearby) and a cool Nature-based playground to explore in winter night conditions.

Wild About Winter Nights is totally free to enjoy and entirely outdoors; no registration is required. If parking is full near the Maple Grove Shelter, park in the Donald W. Meyer Center or Deep Woods Lodge lots to catch a free shuttle to the event. Or, for added adventure, park in the Meyer Center lot and let your eyes adjust to the dark as you take the Trillium Trail to the event through the woods!

Big Creek Park is located at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township.
